Invenergy is a leading privately held, global developer and operator of sustainable energy solutions, and has developed 200 wind, solar, natural gas, and energy storage projects across four continents.  The Invenergy Scholarship was created to support students in their pursuit of a career in the renewable energy industry.  As renewable energy becomes increasingly necessary in our society, Invenergy hopes to encourage the next generation of innovators, scientists, engineers, technologists, and business professionals who will contribute to the clean energy future.

The Invenergy Scholarship will provide support of $5,000 per year to a student pursuing a 4-year college or university degree with the hopes of entering the renewable energy industry.  This scholarship is not exclusive to students pursuing a career in STEM, as careers in the renewable energy industry can span to career paths such as Human Resources, Accounting, Marketing, Communications, etc. and all students interested are welcome to apply. 

The award provides four years of financial support and access to career development opportunities.

Eligible students must be rising first-year college students and current participants in the Chicago Scholars program.  Eligible students must have a GPA of at least 3.0, a good attendance record, and demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in the field of renewable energy.  To learn more about Invenergy and the work they're doing across the globe, click here.
The Application Process
ELIGIBILITY and REQUIREMENTS
  • Current participant in the Chicago Scholars program
  • Graduating high school senior with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Coursework, activities, and/or college plans demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in the field of renewable energy
  • School attendance rate of 85% or higher
  • Seeking a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. four-year college or university on a full-time basis
  • Demonstrated financial need

AWARD
  • $5,000/year for 4 years

APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1:  Complete the CS Scholarship Pre-Application by April 1, 2024.  The pre-application only needs to be completed once and can apply to multiple CS scholarships.

Step 2:  Complete this application by April 1, 2024 including:
  • Essay of no more than 750 words articulating why you are applying for the Invenergy Scholarship and how the funds will help you achieve your goals for the future, especially as related to the field of renewable energy.

INTERVIEW PROCESS AND SELECTION
  • Applicants will be notified of their status by May 1, 2024, with a request for an interview if accepted into the second round.  During interviews, students will be asked to share their goals for the future and how this scholarship will allow them to achieve these goals.  The students selected for the scholarship will be notified by May 15, 2024.
