The Generations Scholarship Application 2023-2024

The Generations Scholarship was established in recognition of the support and financial impact that previous generations had on the donors' ability to attend college; its goal is to help to initiate a cascade effect of college attendance for the scholarship recipient and his or her future generations.

The mission of the Generations Scholarship is to support academically motivated, hard-working, ambitious students who demonstrate a significant financial gap with regard to financing their college education.

Application Process

ELIGIBILITY and REQUIREMENTS

Current Chicago Scholar with the academic standing of a high school senior
Must have demonstrated financial need with regard to financing their college education
Highly-motivated and mature student
Desire to ensure that future generations also attend college
Must be seeking a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. four-year college or university on a full-time basis

AWARD

$5,000/year for four years

APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Complete the CS Scholarship Pre-Application by April 1, 2024. The pre-application only needs to be completed once and can apply to multiple CS scholarships.

Step 2: Complete this application by April 1, 2024 including:

Two (2) written essays responding to the prompts included in the application.

INTERVIEW PROCESS AND SELECTION

Applicants will be notified of their status by early May, 2024, with a request for an interview if accepted into the second round. During interviews, students will be asked to share their goals for the future and how this scholarship will allow them to achieve these goals. The student selected for the scholarship will be notified by late May, 2024.

Student Essays

After reviewing the scholarship's purpose and mission, written on the first page of the application, please submit written responses to each of the topics below.

1. How, specifically, will this scholarship make a difference for you with regard to financing your college education? In your response, we encourage you to provide more context regarding your and/or your family's financial circumstances. (300 words or less)

2. Tell us about yourself, your background or your story, and how you believe it differentiates you from other students and makes you uniquely qualified to receive this scholarship. (500 words or less)
