September Activity and Resources Guide

This or That

Quick round of This or That before we jump right into our September session!

Before We Begin...

One thing to know about great leaders, is that they get better by taking advantage of the opportunities placed in front of them to grow and build out their skills. This is something we like to call adaptability

It's important to try and utilize the opportunities to improve yourself and your leadership, because at its core, adaptability is about modeling the way and showing up with the ability to:
  • Operate effectively in changing contexts
  • Be strategic with your time (work smarter not harder!)
  • And communicate when change or roadblock is reached

We want you to keep this definition in mind as we jump into discussing and reviewing the Common App

Application Work Time

With the CS5 Onsite Application Date coming up September 30th, we want you to take the time to work on your Common App

Please use the September Resource Guide as a tool to guide you through this process:
September Resource Guide

On your Resource Guide, you will find ways you can utilize your time to work on your common app, including resources like templates and YouTube tutorials!

Countdown to Onsite!

Onsite is on October 25, 2024

That means we have less than 2 months left!

As mentioned before, Onsite is In-Person at Navy Pier! The CS staff has been working hard to ensure that this hallmark event holds all the invigorating moments of connection and empowerment it's come to be known for.

Before we move on, lets take some guesses:

Thanks for your guesses!

  • Onsite began in 2007
  • 50 scholars were a part of the program
  • and 30 Colleges & Universities were present
Now let's look into last year's Onsite event:

Thank you for your answers! Let's see how close you were on the next page

Present-Day Onsite

  • Last year, CS scholars saw a combined $34.4 million awarded in merit aid
  • Onsite hosted 125 colleges, over 3,100+ interviews, with the presence of over 500 scholars & students from across the country
  • Finally, 774 admissions were given at Onsite 2023
At Onsite, you have the opportunity to:
  • Interview with school's admissions representatives early in the game
  • Have the opportunity to receive acceptances AND merit aid scholarships before any other non-Onsite attendees
  • and you'll be first in line for aid and to have your apps reviewed
--> Which is why it is so important that you get your CS5 in by the Sep. 30th deadline (this allows admissions reps time to review your application before meeting you!)

Onsite, CS5 & LOR Reminders

As you move forward towards Onsite, it's important to remember:
  • You can send your counselor application items to review outside of sessions
  • Check-in on LOR requests!
  • If you can, you should apply to more than 5 schools!
    • Due to time constraints, finite representatives, and over 700 participants, interviews have limitations
  • Don't withdraw due to overwhelm, please communicate and we can help you!

Announcements

Please read through all the announcements, which include information regarding Onsite, counseling checklists, deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and more!
